Great turn up with 92 registered entrants.

First time this area has been used for MTBO. The map was a combination of 4 maps. 

The map is named 'Fitz-simons Lanes'  because the original owners of the land were the Fitz-simons family.

The area provided for different types of challenges with Westerfolds Park being a good starting point 'to get warmed up' 

with more simple controls on formed tracks, then into Candlebark Park for some challenging single track and fine map reading, 

followed by more simple , yet more distance to be travelled, controls outside Eltham Lower Park and the urban area of Templestowe.

All in all a good 75 minutes of challenge!

10 riders managed to ride to all 20 controls in under 75 minutes with Alex Randall putting in an outstanding performance winning in 50.40 minutes.

Note: the original planned course had controls further 'out' but Parks Victoria placed many restrictions on control sites resulting in the course length being shortened.

Thanks to the volunteers from Yarra Vally Orienteering Club, some riders , some foot orienteers, who made you welcome, provided information and assistance 

to newcomers and helped those who needed to take advantage of the FREE handlebar map holders by assisting with attaching them to your bike.

Rules: 

Thanks to majority of riders who obeyed all the rules and restrictions. 

It was disappointing to have a report of a rider lifting their bike over a fence - this is NOT allowed.

The LARGE map at the Start enabled me to go thru in detail the access points and to clarify yellow access areas.
