Park and Street Orienteering

More Fun Than the Same Old Run

Bored with running the same old block? Tired of trudging on the treadmill? Looking for a new way to give your brain and body a boost? Want to see new places and meet new faces?

Park and Street Orienteering provides the perfect combination of mental and physical exercise. You do not need a compass or any special map reading ability. However, it will test your thinking while giving you a great workout in a friendly, safe, outdoor environment.   Events are held all over Melbourne, all year round.

Our events welcome people of all ages and abilities, and accommodate everyone from the elite sports person to those looking for a good walk to help stay in shape.

Families and friends can participate in groups or individually.  Groups such as schools, scouts, sports or social clubs are very welcome - but please contact us at least a week prior to the event, so we can make sure enough maps are printed.

Printed programs covering all of Melbourne are available at most events. Further information is also available on this website: Want to learn more? Click here

Park and Street - Latest News

Camberwell Central

Saturday, 20 May 2017

A very slight but annoyingly persistent drizzle didn't dampen the spirits as we merged on Camberwell Central.  Malcolm's courses pushed us away from the start and forced us to cover a good distance, but the points spread was rewarding without needing to venture to the nether regions.

This week the A runners had to work hard to clean up the course, and only four managed it - Ian, Paul, Tim and Colin.  On B course, Ian claimed the win with 58 points after Tim copped late penalties, while Peter M and Nick were hot on their heels.  Dave's win on PW was slim, as Helen, Tony and Len were all just 2 points behind his score of 55.

Week 9 sees several people starting to refine their overall result by dropping their lowest scores.  Ian, Geoff and Paul remain in front on A1, while on A2, Hugh and Vic have swapped spots behind leader Andrew.  On A3, Arthur has jumped to third behind Roger and Stuart. No change on A4 for Dale, Richard and Nicole.  Ian extended his lead over Bruce and Jay on B1.  Peter M is now third on B2 behind Reg and Greg, and I've claimed the lead on B3 ahead of Peter K and Pam.  Dave still leads PW1, with Len and Mark in second and third.  Barry moved into third on PW2 where Kay and Bernie still lead.  No change on PW3 for Ian, Noel and Gwennyth.  Mike leads PW4 from Barry and Di.

Be a part of history next Wednesday!  Orienteering world wide is set to break the world record for participation on World Orienteering Day.  Do your bit by coming along to Mullauna, enjoying a great course, and finding out how well you know your StreetO.  Don't miss out!
